My Favourite Technologies
This page is dedicated to technologies that I have found useful, cool, amazing, innovative or just awesome! It is my hope that my favourites may soon become your as well or at least open your mind to new ideas and possibilities.
#1. Edmodo
Edmodo is a social networking online classroom environment. It takes the Facebook social network idea and combines it with an online class environment like D2L or Moodle to create an interactive classroom environment online. This is my new top dog for a blended teaching environment f2f and online. Students are only required to submit a name, username, and password to join a class. No E-mail required! Parents will need an E-mail to sign-up onto Edmodo that will allow them to track their child's progress in the class. The teacher becomes the moderator and facilitator of the online class where content can be shared, uploaded, downloaded, marked, polled, commented, etc.
Edmodo came about in 2008, when two school district workers wanted to bridge the gap of how they lived their lives and how they learned at school. Edmodo became their idea of bringing education into the 21st century!
Check out Edmodo for more info and to sign-up! See you online!

I led an in-district PD workshop called Apps in the Class. Above is a PDF copy of my handout that was associated with my workshop. Please feel free to peruse it. All of the apps listed have their place in a classroom in some shape or form. You just need that creative spark!
